Meet Our Staff

Tobin Risner - Founder's Story

I earned my Business Degree from Cal Poly in 1999, moved to San Francisco and founded Keeping the Books as a side job that same year. At the time I was the Controller for American Wine Distributors on Pier 23, using QuickBooks all day every day while overseeing others using the software in a multi-user environment. As such, I was meticulous in drafting "Standard Operating Procedures" for every aspect of the company's financial management, and was credited with establishing the most efficient, streamlined bookkeeping system the company had ever seen. I soon realized that my methods were a valuable asset, and began consulting with small business owners in the Bay Area to increase their efficiencies and train them on their QuickBooks software.

Fast forward to 2002 when I moved back to San Luis Obispo and got married. Keeping the Books started slowly picking up local clients, eventually taking on staff and moving into the heart of Downtown SLO in 2007. We've been here ever since, and intend to remain here for the foreseeable future. When I'm not Keeping the Books, you can find me on the local golf courses and spending time with my wife and two beautiful daughters on the Central Coast. In addition I spend lots of time with my dogs, cats, pigeons and poultry on our family ranch in Edna Valley. As a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, I have completed a rigorous and comprehensive QuickBooks curriculum developed by Intuit.

Robyn Aasmundstad's Story

Robyn came to us in 2013. A bookkeeper since the late 90's she stepped right into the role of client manager for many of our clients. Robyn has many strengths and few weaknesses when it comes to bookkeeping. She can handle the most complex tasks spanning across all industries. Robyn recently moved to Arizona but thanks to technology it feels like she is still right here with us and she has uniquely positioned herself as our only 100% offsite team member. We defer to Robyn to help with those of our clients who need regular monthly or quarterly support. One of our main goals at KTB has always been to employ the best bookkeepers in our area, and thanks to her outstanding performance over the years we are thrilled to retain her services regardless of her home address. If you are working with Robyn, to say you are in "good hands" is a dramatic understatement!
